KANO, Nigeria Authorities have begun airlifting some 15,000 Nigerian Muslims seeking to make a pilgrimage to Mecca, after they were stranded for days in the northern city of Kano, AFP quoted officials as saying Friday.
The pilgrims were delayed in leaving and had to stay in a camp near the city's airport because the Central Bank of Nigeria had not released their travel allowances.
